There are mainly 5 Indian states currently that provide MBBS admissions under NRI quota in their government and private medical colleges. These states are namely Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Puducherry. They have reserved about 7-15% of MBBS seats for NRI candidates.

However, other states such as  Gujarat, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu provide MBBS admissions to NRIs in self financed private medical colleges only. Also, all Deemed universities or medical colleges have a 15% reservation of  seats for NRI students.

NRI Quota Fees in Government and Private Medical Colleges

In government medical colleges, the NRI Quota Fees for MBBS admissions are generally higher than the regular fees for Indian students. This is because the government subsidies the education of Indian students, while NRI students are not eligible for this subsidy. Private medical colleges, on the other hand, do not receive any government subsidies, and therefore charge higher fees to all students, including NRI students. The NRI Quota Fees in private medical colleges can be significantly higher than those in government medical colleges.

As per the different states of India providing MBBS admissions under NRI quota, The annual NRI tuition fees in Himachal Pradesh is equivalent to about 20,000 dollars.

For the MBBS programme in government colleges in Haryana, the NRI tuition is about 25,000 dollars upon enrollment and 12,500 dollars each year for the following four years.

The fee schedule for NRI applicants to government medical institutes in Rajasthan was updated in 2020. At the time of admission, the candidate must pay a deposit of $30,000 and a subsequent fee of $15,000 per semester. For NRI students in Puducherry, the whole course fee at the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute is $100,000. A refundable caution deposit of $15,000 is included in this.
