Admissions to the MD/MS course in various medical colleges of Uttar Pradesh is done through the National Eligibility cum Entrance test for Postgraduate medical courses i.e. NEET PG exam. The NEET PG 2023 will be held on 5th March, 2023 and the application form for the same has already been released online.

Eligibility criteria for NEET PG 2023:

  • Candidates must have completed an MBBS degree from a college recognised by the National Medical Commission.
  • Candidates must complete the Compulsory Rotating Resident Internship on or before 30th June, 2023. 
  • Candidates must have a permanent or provisional registration certificate issued by NMC or the State Medical Council.

Application form for Counselling for MD MS admissions in Uttar Pradesh:

After qualifying NEET PG 2023 and meeting other criteria, the applicant must register online on the official website Counselling for UPNEET for admission to various postgraduate medical colleges of Uttar Pradesh under state quota. After successfully submitting the form and payment of fee, you will receive a registration number and transaction number on the registered mobile number for future reference.

Counselling for PG admissions in Uttar Pradesh 2023:

The counselling for PG medical admissions in Uttar Pradesh is undertaken by the Directorate General of Medical Education and Training (DGHE), Uttar Pradesh. The merit list of candidates shortlisted for counselling as per their NEET PG 2023 score, reservation policy and other eligibility parameters will be released online on the official website Directorate General Medical Education and training Uttar Pradesh | DGME | Training | Medical Education (up.gov.in).

The shortlisted candidates must fill their choice of institute and specialisation by logging into the official website and fill in the maximum number of choices available. There will be 2 rounds of counselling- if the seat is not allotted in the first round or the candidate wants to upgrade the allotted seat, then one must fill their choices again for the second round. The new allotment will automatically cancel the previous allotment of seats.

Reservation Policy for PG admissions in Uttar Pradesh:

In Uttar Pradesh, the reservation policy for PG medical admissions is governed by the rules and regulations set by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and the state government. The reservation policy aims to provide equal opportunities to students from different social and economic backgrounds.

Here is the general reservation policy for PG medical admissions in Uttar Pradesh:

-Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST): 15% of the total seats are reserved for students belonging to the SC and ST categories.

-Other Backward Classes (OBC): 27% of the total seats are reserved for students belonging to the OBC category.

-Physically Handicapped (PH): 3% of the total seats are reserved for students with physical disabilities.

-Women: 33.33% of the total seats in each category (General, SC, ST, OBC) are reserved for women.
