MD MS Admission in Karnataka for State Quota seats (by KEA)

Qualifying the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test for Post Graduate medical courses (NEET PG 2023) is mandatory for MD MS admissions in the various government and private medical institutions of Karnataka.

The NEET PG 2023 exam is to be held on 5th March, 2023. The application process for the same is closed now but the Final Edit Window to rectify any uploaded image such as Photograph, Signature or Thumb impression will be open from 14th to 17th February, 2023.

Eligibility criteria for NEET PG 2023:

  • Candidates who have completed MBBS and have the MBBS degree or provisional MBBS pass certificate recognized by the NMC.
  • Candidates must possess a permanent or provisional registration certificate of MBBS qualification issued by the National Medical Commission (formerly known as Medical Council of India) or State Medical Council.
  • The applicant must have completed or likely to complete one year of Compulsory Rotating Resident Internship on or before 30th June, 2023. (The earlier cut-off date for completion of internship was 31st March, 2023 which has been extended to 30th June, 2023 now).
  • All Indian nationals can appear for NEET PG exam 2023
  • There is no maximum age limit for the NEET PG exam.

 

Additional eligibility criteria for PG admissions in Karnataka:

  • Domicile: An applicant must be a domicile of Karnataka to be eligible for MD MS admissions in the colleges of Karnataka and submit relevant documents supporting the same.

 

Application form for Counselling for MD MS admissions in Karnataka:

The counselling for MD MS admissions in Karnataka is conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) and the process for the same has not yet started. The application form for admission to post graduate medical courses in the various colleges of Karnataka will be released soon and available on the official website KEA | Home (karnataka.gov.in)

After registration and verification of all the uploaded documents, a verification slip will be generated by KEA. Candidates must check all the details mentioned on the verification slip and report any error to KEA immediately. Also, the verification slip will have the security key of the candidate essential for further admission process.

General: 50th percentile

General with physical disabilities: 45th percentile

SC/ST/OBC: 40th percentile

SC/ST/OBC with physical disabilities: 40th percentile

Counselling for PG admissions in Karnataka 2023:

There will be 2 rounds of counselling for Karnataka PG medical admissions conducted by KEA followed by a mop up round. The merit list of candidates based on their NEET PG scores, reservations, eligibility criteria and choice of college or course will be released online on the official website of KEA. The counselling will be done online to fill up 50% of state quota seats. 

There are 4 types of seats available for PG medical admissions in the colleges of Karnataka i.e. Government, Private, NRI and Other or Management Quota. Kindly check the seat matrix for the year published by KEA before selecting your preferred medical college.

Reservation Policy for PG admissions in Karnataka

In Karnataka, admissions to postgraduate (PG) medical courses are governed by the reservation policy set by the government.
